Far Cry is quite an interesting game, mainly because it generates so much controversy. Unfortunately, people are getting so hung up on the checkpoint save feature that they are not giving the game a chance. At minimum play the demo (remember the "F" is the action key - people seem to get stuck in the raft). Anyhow the graphics and draw distance in Far Cry are unparallel by any game on the market. This is an outdoor environment is amazing! Add to this a very challenging enemy AI and entertaining story and you have a FUN GAME.
Summary:
Graphics - 10 (exceptional)
Gameplay - 9 (great AI, story, environment design)
Frustration - 4 (there are some very tough places - particularly at the volcano. This becomes more painful because of the lack of a user controllable save game feature.)
Fun Factor - 9 (the most fun since Half Life)
Overall - 8.8 (great with a flaw)
