Oh yeah, this is THE game you should buy to show the power of the PS2.
The graphics are amazing, if slightly cartoon, the sound is first-rate, from the screeching of a sports car’s engine to Michael Jackson's 'Billy Jean'.
Yes, the game features fully licensed tracks straight out of the 80's, The Buggle's 'Video Killed the Radio Star' and Toto's 'Africa' two of them.
But remember, there are around one hundred of them, so there will be music to everyone's taste.
I haven't even got to the game itself and already I can hear you running to the shops for this masterpiece.
The game sets you as Tommy Vercetti (voiced by Ray Liotta), Tommy has just finished his time in prison but his 'employers' don't want him walking the streets of Liberty City. So they send him to Vice City.
As you probably already know, Vice City is based on Miami (as Liberty City was based on New York), so you can expect boats, beaches, suits and a plot that could beat half of what comes out of Hollywood.
As soon as you are given control of Tommy, you can basically do what you like. If you want, you can complete some missions to further the storyline, you could drive or walk about the city exploring, you could even buy yourself a screwdriver and go on a killing spree.
As you may have noticed, this is not a game for anyone with strong moral views.
There is no escaping what this game is about, you are a rogue criminal in a city full of gangs, guns, betrayal and meat cleavers. Yes, you can even get a meat cleaver as a weapon, and it doesn’t stop there. Chainsaws, Magnums, M16s, Gatling Guns, Flamethrowers, Samurai Swords and even an apache helicopter are on offer.
Put simply, this game should not be bought by anyone with strong moral views (you can even pick up hookers for heavens sake) but if you want some great fun at the expense of the NOT REAL LITTLE VIRTUAL PEOPLE that the media get so worked up about, you’ve come to the right place.
