I'm no big racing fan - in fact this is the only racing game I've played since... hell, I can't even remember, but it must be more than three years ago. This is also because I have no particular interest in cars and how awesome they are. All this has changed in the last couple of weeks, and the reason is Project Gotham Racing 2 and the generosity of kudos!
The game play is fairly easy to learn, even for a novice like me. Every car is quite different to handle from one another, and there are about 100 cars in the game to unlock as you earn your kudos points (you can test-drive almost every one of the cars, without having to unlock/buy them first). The kudos points are earned through stylish driving (cool slides, overtakes etc.) and completing races at different difficulties (you gain more kudos the harder the difficulty you choose). There's a number of different race series to complete, and all these allow you to buy cooler cars with your kudos along the way. With the opportunity to race against other components online via Xbox Live! (Haven’t tried it myself yet), the lasting appeal will certainly be expanded a lot. Also because the AI drivers don’t seem too bright; they just bump into you with no care whatsoever. Seems like you're just a ghost to them - this is also the only major gripe I have about the game.
The graphics are beautiful; the cars are insanely detailed, and shine brightly just as the road before you, when the sun reflects upon it. The surroundings (you visit a lot of different cities around the world) are also beautiful and makes one appreciate this game even more. The sound is excellent as well; engine sounds are varying depending on the car, and car back-fires are also present - awesome!
In the end, this game is simply THE racing game to own for the Xbox. As I said before, I'm no big racing fan, and since I love this game so much, I can recommend it for anyone!
