I confess first thati am a major king of fighters fan. So with that said, I'll continue.
KOF is a 2d team based fighting game
(thought there is a single mode)
that has alot of fans aound the world and now for a statement explaining breifly about the fuss of why people love the king of fighters:
KOFis not the casual gamer's game. We don't have to fear that since the graphics are awfully bad compared to any ps2 game. Also its 2d. So you should have a good knowledge of the purpose of the game and how you play with it. The purpose will convince you to love the game. The game is a 2d fighter. It is a very deep fighter that is quite balanced with many fighters. Thus creating a major competition based game with lots of stratigies and tactics that takes a long time to perfect. Thats the purpose of kof(king of fighters).
The games are composed of 2 kof games(they are not the best of the series, but the best has already been released on the ps one or dreamcast. They are the latest games which haven't been released on a major console in the US).
The first is kof 2000, which is a very very striker based fighting system. It has 35 fighters(and about more than that number as strikers only)
Which enables the striker to come out for a hit or a juggle or to be comboed after almost anytime anywhere. Thus making the game quite broken since combos here are quite big and sometimes a killer. Punishments are now inturupted with the strikers that turn the table quite unfairly(well atleast for me). The game has very good music; like kyo's,kim's team, art of fightings's etc
The graphics are identical to the arcade(except for some animation's and blood) and has some extra's like new strikers, kof94-99 intro's and the party mode(a survival like game which has a very boring feeling of fighting standing cpu charachter that might give a punch every hour for almost 43 matches untill the cpu begins to fight with the very easy level of difficulty)
KOF 2001 has 40 characters and is a better and a little balanced in the striker part but not on other part (like char balance where some characters are very overpowered with combos. The damage is also really high)It has a semi ratio system where you chose the fighters then choose the number of strikers and fighters(1f-3s/2f-2s/3f-1s/4f-0s)that affect the ratio of damage, health and number of super bars. The more fighters, the less the ratio is. The graphics has been redone(awfully)yet you can choose the arcade levels themselves(after playing in the stupid party mode). The music is terrible. There isn't any console exclusive(except for the bosses striker's and the bosses them selves)
I recommend this game to all fighter fans and every one who quite knows what is expected from the game and their way of playing it.
