Ok, I admit I bought this after I whet my apetite for RPGs with Final Fantasy 7. I thought this was a great game. It certainly did not have the production values of FF7, but it had an "old-school" charm. I had never bothered playing any RPGs before FF7 and Wild Arms and today the bulk of the games I play are RPGs. I don't think that would have been the case if I hadn't of found Wild Arms to be so engaging. Even to this day, I find myself pulling it out of the closet and playing just the intro. The opening music and the animation were just a beauty to behold for me. The story was a good one, the graphics were so-so and the combat system wasn't terribly complicated. I did play through about 3/4 of the game without realizing that I could perform summons during combat though. But I was interested in seeing how the game ended. I kept going because I felt for the characters in the story and I wanted to know if they triumphed. I hear that they are planning to revisit this series and publish an upgraded version of the original game. I for one will be in line to purchase and play through this one again.
