Starfox Adventures was a game that I for a long time looked forward to. First when it was on its way to the N64, and then when it was coming to the Gamecube and it was revealed that it would be Rare's last (and first) game on Gamecube. How very happy I am to report that it turned out fine.
Graphically, words like "WOW", "Oh Man!" And "Beautiful...." are words that are likely to be used when you first play it. Simply put, it looks amazing, the most boring parts are so, so pretty, and the most impressive parts...well, lets just say that it makes some other so-called next-gen games look like they belong on the old PS1!
The soundtrack can't match the visuals, but is still decent, with lots of tunes, some good, some forgettable. Sound-effects-wise, it's quite good, and the voice-acting is very welcome, even if it's not the best ever.
Variation is what makes the gameplay so enjoyable, with lots of mini-game like set-pieces and varied worlds, a simple, but fun battle-system, clever puzzles and lots of differet challenges. It isn't very hard, but it's brilliant fun.
The game isn't very long, and the few side-quests and secrets that it features don't boost the lifespan that much. Fortunately the replay-value is good enough to make you come back at least once.
The best Starfox-game along with the N64's Starfox 64, Starfox Adventures is an excellent game while it lasts, is good enough to make you come back for more and is such a fun and beautiful game that it is recommended to all Gamecube-owners!
