Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Is the first Mario Kart for the Gamecube, and it does deliver what it promised, namely an extremely fun experience with great tracks and a fantastic multiplayer-mode. Great!
It isn't the most impressive game visually on the Cube, but it is very colorful, really good-looking at places, with some nice effects and no fogging. It sounds good too, with great sound-effects and decent tunes. Technically, a good game.
Gameplay is what transforms the game from good to great, with lots of different playable characters, a well-working "two characters on one kart"-system, and a more polished experience than Mario Kart 64 offered. It can be frustrating at times, but you learn to accept it after the first 100 curse-words. The multiplayer is superb, just so fun, action-packed and addictive that you just always want one more try.
With a longer-lasting singleplayer than in the past games, a multiplayer that never gets old, and of course the good, old time-trial, it also lasts a decent while.
This is my favorite Mario Kart yet, and while it might not be perfect, with an improved singleplayer and a fantastic multiplayer, it is a game that all Gamecube-owners should try out, preferably with a friend (or a foe).
