An unbelievably overrated game.
A huge buzz surrounds the title because the studio that developed it is comprised of some of the people who put forth the original Medal of Honor.
Actually, Call of Duty looks just about as dated as Medal of Honor. It's all correct; but don't expect anything above average, either from the small and oddly-animated characters models (the running animation is absolutely ludicrous), the primitive lighting, or the rather uninspired environments. It looks like a competent budget title.
Admittedly, the action is often very intense, and the enemies exhibit a trace of artificial intelligence. The claim to realism, however, is just about as irrelevant as the action is heated. A one-man army takes on massive Nazi complexes or single-handedly drowns a submarine... you know the drill.
So, as I said, it's intense. It's dramatic too, and it's varied, with on-rail parts, regular shooter sections and some squad combat.
But if you're looking for something that manages to do all that, and presents you with really clever enemies and a gorgeous world in the bargain, skip this one and get Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault.
