I have to admit that I have never played any previous Smackdown game before this game. However, I did play almost all the wrestling games on the N64. Basically, I was looking for a game that could replace Wrestlemania 2000 (N64; Reviewed at: 85/100). That game was the best wrestling game that I have played up to this day. The gameplay of this game seems to be like an old N64 wrestling game, and that is not much progress in my opinion. This game did not entertain me as much an older N64 game had done, simply because this game did not offer anything new to me, in my opinion. Sure the game did have one or two new things here and there and a bunch of new characters added, but it still wasn't enough. Don't get me wrong the game does have good gameplay it is just nothing that I haven't done before. The storyline was also not as well written as that of Wrestlemania 2000, in fact it just plain out was nothing different from an average N64 wrestling game. The replay value is average, though I did not like to play this game all too much but it is a fun game to play and you might even love it, well that is if you never played an other wrestling games. The graphics were pretty good, but I, personally, that the PS2 is capable of better graphics then this. Also there were too many glitches happening over and over… The sound effects were great, nothing special then from an ordinary wrestling game. This is an average wrestling game, that I recommend to be a good rent if you are waiting on a newer wrestling game to come out; just don't expect anything that you haven't experienced before in a wrestling game.
