This was the first game lwas about to be released, and EB stores had a PS2 with the demo of games, this game was on it, and I played it a lot. It was probably the game that made me want a PS2. So, when I finally got the game, I ended up loving it more than the demo of course. Here's how I feel:
Graphics: At the time of the PS2's release, these were mind boggling. Pure amazing detail. The characters were pretty detailed, and the levels were pretty detailed. Overall, it has impressive visuals.
Gameplay: This game is very different from it's predecessor, Dynasty Warriors. DW was a fighting game, where as this is a war type game, where you take contol of one general, fight thousands of other Chinese men per stage. The gameplay is very fun, yet VERY repetative. However, this game is really fun. I have played it for countless hours.
Controls: Simple, pick-up-and-play. The layout is easy to figure out, and once you get it, it's a breeze. Mindless actually, which is a good thing.
Replayability: With many characters to unlock and many stories to tell, this game has a lot too offer. Even though it is the same stages over and over, playing with all the characters almost makes it feel like a new game each time, since each character has their own special moves. Very high replay if you ask me.
Overall: A stikingly fun game. Easily one of the better action games on the PS2, even today. I say buy it.
