This was one of the first games I ever rented when I first got my PS2. I got this and Star Wars: Starfighter, but that game is a different story. Z.O.E., on the other hand, is an excellent game. I know most people went out and got it because it came with the MGS2 demo, but me, I rented it because I love mechs. Mechs are my life. When I first saw it, I noticed that it looked a lot like a Gundam game. Well, at that I was right, but the the gameplay is totally different than that of any Gundam game. This game is fast paced, non-stop action, and you can can actually fly...unlike any Gundam game. The fighting is so much fun too. You can whirl around enemies, shoot them with lasers or charge up a big energy ball and hurl it at them. You can also grab and throw them! The story is kinda cheap, and the bosses are somewhat tough and few. But that's not what I don't like about this game. Here is what I don't like: there are only about 8 different areas, and 7 of those you visit over and over looking for pointless programs that only help you get through one part of the game, while the other area is where you stay for about 10 minutes of the game. Other than that, this game is great. The mechs, or Orbital Frames as the call them, are pretty cool looking. You pilot one called Jehuty, equipped with energy sword thing, and a variety of other weapons that are only useful if you play on Hard difficulty and up. Another thing is that this game ends when you least except it. But that's not so bad, for that is what the sequel is for. But if you want a 5-6 hour long game with replayability up the wah-zoo, and a somewaht fun versus mode that you unlock once you beat the game through once, then look no further than this game. Besides, now you only have to hand over $15 for it. And if you don't want to do that, at least give this game a rent.
