After playing the original Half-Life, it almost seemed impossible that there would ever be another shooter to ever surpass such a perfect game. In the years after Half Life, there have been games like Halo, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, all of which are good and amazing games, but none quite seemed to feel as perfectly done as Half Life. Then, in 2004, we got our answer. And the weird thing it, it just so happened to be the long awaited sequel to a perfect shooter.
Graphics: There is no denying that Half Life 2 is one of the, if not the best game ever made in the graphics department. Everything in the game looks real, and moves real with the help of the Source Engine (which acts as a realistic physics engine). I would go on and on about the graphics, but the fact is this: they are amazing. That's all there is to it.
Gameplay: Not only is the gameplay more fun than the orginal game, but it's more diverse. With the addition of physics, there are so many more ways to clear paths and go about things. Plus, with new vehicles in the game, there is another element that seems to fit right at home in the game. It's just the most perfect shooter gameplay.
Control: Keybaord and mouse setup...need I say more? Of course these controls are flawless, but they usually are with any PC shooter.
Replay: I have already beaten this game waaay to many times. It's just so fun. The way you do things just doesn't seem to be the same as you did them a previous time.
Overall: The best shooter ever made. And actually, it is quite possibly the best game ever made. Not only is it technilogically amazing, but it's amazing just as a game itself. If you have the PC to play it on, play it. If you don't, pay for a nice PC just to play it. This game is awesome, and that's all there is to it. Half Life 2 is indeed the Half Life killer, and quite frankly, it is also the "Halo" killer that everyone else asked about too.
