As another launch title for the PSP, Wipeout Pure extends the racing series onto portable handhelds, and I must say, they do it with a nice touch.
Graphics: The graphics of this Wipeout title rival those of the PS2 version. Very sleek and easy on the eyes. I thought some stuff would be hard to see because it is a fast racer and it is on a small screen. However, that does not happen. The resolution of the screen, and the crisp, clearness of it helps take out any factor of Wipeout Pure being to much of a hassle. You can see everything ahead of you nicely. I must say, this is one of the better looking games on the PSP thus far.
Gameplay: Fast-paced, futuristic racing. What more can you ask for? There are weapons to use and absorb (to bring back up your shield's power of course). The game also has a variety of modes. Of course with the normal Single Race, Tournament, Free Play, and Time Trial, Wipeout Pure also has a Zone mode, which is basically where you constantly get faster with each lap, and you have to make it a certain zone mnumber. It's tough. There are also tracks and tournaments to unlock with each race you do.
Control: The game controls really well. I have no problems with it. I prefer the D-pad over the analog stick, but even so, the analog stick works well with this game.
Replay: With a variety of modes and unlockables, this game will keep you busy for a while. Plus, it's just sheer fun. Oh, and for the first 6 months, there will be some downloadable content. So that adds to the fun as well.
Overall: A must own title for anyone who buys/bought a PSP. It's fast, it's fun, it's beautiful. Buy it. Play it. Love it.
