Yoshi's Island keeps up the tradition of spectacular mario games. Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, is basically a perfect port of the SNES original, there are not really any gameplay differences. The original Mario Bros. is included as aa multiplayer option AGAIN, but its pretty much a throwaway feature since it was included in the previous two Mario Advance games.
Gameplay doesn't get any better than this. You control Yoshi, who is carrying Baby Mario on his back. Everything works perfectly, from making and throwing eggs, to manuevring tricky platforms, everything is completely intuitive. Plus, you get to transform Yoshi into a car, helicopter, submarine and other weird stuff.
Gameplay 10/10.
The SNES original's graphics pushed the system's capabilities to the limit with the help of the revolutionary FX2 chip, which allows the game to squish, bend, expand, and rotate sprites, creating a truly unique visual experience. The game is vibrantly colorful, with a kind of storybook apperance. There are many 3D rotating platforms and giant growing bosses that take advantage of the chip.
All of these effects translate perfectly to the very capable GBA.
Graphics 10/10.
There aren't very many different songs in the game, but the're catchy enough to keep you humming them without even noticing it. The GBA version has added Yoshi's cute vocals, which is an improvement.
Sound 9/10.
There are six extra levels to unlock after you've completed the game, but outside of that there's not a whole lot to accomplish after you've beaten the game. However, this game is so addictive you're sure to play it through many times.
Replay value 7/10.
Although the bosses were a little to easy, thats about the only thing bad I can think of about the game. An absolute classic, I urge any GBA owner to buy it.
