When people here Goldeneye, I bet they think of this game, and I can see why. Goldeneye 007 (the game) was made back during the Nintendo 64's beginning (like one year after launch), and it became a must have game for anybody. It has great single player, multiplayer, and lots of fun.
In the single player mode, you control James Bond as he goes through different levels that relate to the Goldeneye movie. In each level, you get a set of objectives to complete, and you can't pass the mission if you don't don't complete them. Most of the missions consist of just getting from one place to another, but there are variety of others that can vary from finding people, killing people, using one of your gadgets on something, and even protecting civilians.
The multiplayer consists of just you and your friend(s) hunting each other down and trying to survive. There are a couple of different ways to play, like capture the flag, and a license to kill, where just one bullet can lead to instant death. You can even select any character from the game to use, and there are a couple of different levels as well. It may not sound like much, but the multiplayer is simply amazing (well, it was for its time). Me and my friends still play the multiplayer in Goldeneye to this date.
Next we have the graphics. Now, the graphics in the game aren't realistic like they should be, but this was back when there weren't many realistic games at all, so you can't really blame anybody for that. The music and sound in the game are nothing special and some may find it a little boring and repetitive, but its tolerable and you should be able to live with it. I have always said that if you don't like a game for its music, just turn the volume down and play "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns and Roses in the background. It's that simple.
The controls for the game may seem a little strange at first, but they are easy to learn and master. The aiming can be a bit strange at times, but its easy to get used to.
Now, if you are one of those people who don't have any siblings or friends to play with, there is still some great single player fun to be had. If you beat a certain level at a certain difficulty, you can get a cheat. When you turn on cheats, that cheat will be able to be used in the single player (some in multiplayer) game. Some cheats vary from the famous DK head mode and Infinite Ammo code, and possibly the strangest cheat ever made, Enemy Rockets, where all enemies have rocket launchers. This is where the game can really take off as you can play through the levels you can't beat or have trouble beating and win so much easier.
Replay value is definitely in this game. You will constantly replay levels to earn the cheats you desire, to try and beat levels on a higher difficulty rating, or simply just playing a fun level over again. It's great when a game has this kind of potential.
With all the great things I said, it would be quite obvious that I would give this game a 10, and I did. Goldeneye is really just a blast to play and any flaws that the game does experience can be easily forgotten about. Goldeneye 007 gets a 10 out of 10.
