When I heard there was going to be a Fire Emblem game finally coming to the United States, I was a little skeptical at first. I was hoping for Fire Emblem to be a hack-in-slash game like Dynasty Warriors or something, instead of a strategy game. However, all of those worries and concerns vanished after I got to play the actual game. Let me tell you this, Fire Emblem is one of the greatest games I have ever played.

I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy or anything, but this game is seriously a blast to play (assuming you like strategy games). Here is basically what you do. You control a bunch of different units (varying from soldiers, to cavaliers, to flying units, to magic users, etc.) and you go from battle to battle defeating enemies to achieve your goal (which is different each battle). Each battle follows along with the storyline of the game (which I won't be spoiling). Every battle has a new challenge waiting for you and if you don't surpass it, then you could experience some trouble.

One thing that is brilliant about the game is the several different mechanics that the game runs on, and if you aren't observant of your units, enemy units, or the terrain, you aren't going to have a good battle. For example, in the game, axe users are weak against sword users, so if you send an axe user in a giant crowd of sword users, don't be suprised if your axe user gets killed. In just about every strategy game, you have to observe your surroundings, and in this game, it is no different.

For a handheld game, this game has good graphics. Even though most of the game will be played on an overview map where things won't really look very good, you have got to appreciate the game for what it is. Also, you will be hearing some great sounds and music. The creators of the game really went through a lot to make the many different musical themes you will hear. I can still hear the Fire Emblem theme song still playing in my head.

I know I said I wouldn't spoil the story, but I'll just give you the jist of it. The story changes a lot during the game. It first starts of with you escorting a girl to a faraway kingdom, which turns into a quest for a boy's father, which finally ends up with you trying to save the world. Also, each character you have has a little backstory and relation with one or more of the other characters you have with you, and if you leave the characters together for a certain amount of time, you will learn a little more about them and even change the ending.

Fire Emblem has plently of replay value. If you want to unlock all of the sidequests, find and use every character, and get all of the hidden items, you will need to play through the game a few times. Also when you beat the game, you can go through the story again on a harder difficulty or see the story again through another person's perspective, which adds up even more time to playing this game.

The reason why I gave Fire Emblem a 10 was because this game had everything I was looking for and it did it well. It has reasonable length and replay value, it had a good and understandable story, it provided me with a good challenge, and it is simply fun to play. All of that equals up to a perfect 10 out of 10 for me.
