Wow. That's basically how you can sum this game up. It's 2145 and the UAC is conducting wierd experiments on Mars and your next in line for security duty. Well once you get there you find out something is very astray on this base. People are going missing and its your job to find a missing scientist. Once you find him thought .... well you could say all hell breaks loose. This game is terribly atmospheric, using all of its awesome power to scare the living crap out of you. The lighting, textures, everything is just drop-dead gorgeous, even at low on 640x480. Tho on my P4 3.2ghz, 512 ddr ram, and gf4 ti4200 64mb i wuz able to run medium at 800x600-1024x768. Though the game is mainly your average run-n-gun shooter, it is a little slower paced, but thats the point, thought usually around every corner is a zombie lurking in teh shadows .... which is all just beautiful btw. An insane amount of talent has went into everything from the sound, voice-acting, graphics, and level design, it all fits the DOOM theme so well. But as everyone knows, the graphics are just superb. All-be-it not a terribly long game, it suffices in length and is well worth a replay on higher difficulty (you unlock nightmare after beating it once). There is also your PDA, a nice little device that give you objective information, lets you view videos and audio logs from other PDA's. The big thrill here thought lies in the atmosphere .... dark and eerie, and at times very frightening, a great game all-in-all, with multiplayer thrown in as a bonus. Multiplayer is fun for up to 4 people, with deathmatch, team dm, last man standing, and tournament (1v1 ladder) modes. Just a great game, an instant classic, 9.7 from me.
