I have yet to find a game that combines the two words fun and vampire.  Soul Reaver looked like it had both but I was fooled.  Onwards to some pros and cons.

I'll start with the cons just because I feel this game is good.  It just simply isn't my kind of game that's all.

Cons.

Maybe I was a special case (I'm special like that you know) but I had the game crash on me pretty often and usually in the same spots.  The game featured my all time favorite (sarcastically) gameplay feature, puzzles.  Not only puzzles but a lot of backtracking to solve them.  You'd have to "warp" from one world to the next several times just to solve one puzzle sometimes.  The combact was pretty bad and often became tedious if you stayed to fight at all.  Raziel is only capable of executing a few moves on the dim witted AI.

Enough slamming on the bad.

Pros.

The good stuff is the voice acting and the story.  The graphics and sound were nothing special but enough to keep you in the game.  I particularely enjoyed the architecture and the look that many of the environments displayed.  It had a dark, gothic, brooding feel to it.  Add to that a slight dash of epic proportions seen by the columns, statues and bridges you encounter.

All in all I would say that Soul Reaver is a good game.  The story and environments definately help the player along.  However, I just felt that it lacked excitement.  If you don't have issues with puzzles and are not too concerned over combat then this game is definately worth taking a peek at.
