I'm a great fan of 4x games and this is one of the best around at the moment. If you're fed up with building civilizations on planet earth and feel the need to extend beyond then space can be an awfully big place and GalCiv2 is here to help.
Simply put the developers have listened to practically everything the players requested and implimented as much as they could into the sequel. This makes for a rich experience and literally adds hundereds of user customisable options. At first this can be daunting but the more you play the more you appreciate those options and the more you can customise your experience. There are a few things that still aren't perfect, mainly the fact that battles are a watch and hope system. Maybe in GalCiv3 they can flesh the space and land battles out a bit more to get the player interacting. In all though if you love 4x games then you already have this right? If not then get down your local shop now and purchase it.
If on the other hand you are an action junkie looking for a space game with elements of strategy then this probably isn't the game for you. Check out Space Rangers 2 instead.
In all I give this 9/10 the 1 point being deducted because of the lack of user interactivity during battles.
