Here are special ways to get extra skill balls.
1)Kimmy Eckman gets 6 extra for playing at Eckman Arches.
2)Amir Khan gets 5 extra for being on Achmed's team.
3)Annie Fraizer gets 3 extra for being on a team with an animal for a logo.
4)Ernie Steele gets 5 extra for playing at Steele Stadium.
5)Sidney and Ashley Webber each get 8 extra if they're on the same team.

Increase Player Statistics
Whenever you select a player for your team, and he's on the same team in Major League Baseball (ex: You picking Nomar Garciaparra and selecting the Red Sox for your team), that player will recieve a statistics bonus just when you start your first game of the season.
