Homeworld kind of snuck up on me. Most games I buy I thoroughly research before the purchase, but Homeworld was an impulse. Sure, I saw the screenshots, and thought they looked great, but I still didn’t know what to expect. Boy was I surprised. This game is in my book the best RTS game out there, and that includes Age of Empires 2. The graphics remind me of the cool Star Wars space battles. Words cannot do the graphics justice. The music is absolutely amazing and adds to the gameplay to a degree that I haven’t seen in a RTS game yet. The story in single player mode is cool, although there aren’t enough missions to truly satisfy me (that’s more of a compliment than a gripe). The true way to play this game, though is in multiplayer. You’ll battle other people in true 3-D environments in a way you’ve never done before. You have to think in a whole new dimension. The net code is awesome, so even 56kers will have a blast, and the game has enough depth to keep you thinking up new strategies for ages. Truly, this game deserves a place in the history of strategy games.
