Gore is a slightly strange game to rate. First of all, it does nothing spectacularly. Pretty much everything in the game, from the graphics to the control, has been seen before. Sadly, other games do better in almost every category. The great thing about Gore, however, is that it somehow manages to overcome this and still shine rather brightly… all this at a great price.
The graphics won't win awards, but they won't turn gamers away, either. They might be behind even older games like Quake 3, but the game runs at a great speed even on older machines. It's a bit refreshing that a game comes out that even average computers can run successfully. The character animation is extremely stiff, however, and really does detract from the overall package. Environments and levels look nice, though, and some have a great sense of atmosphere.
The sound is decent too. Nothing spectacular to write about, but it serves its purpose.
The game plays like a champ, however. Like Serious Sam, this game is all about action. From start to finish, you'll never be able to blink, and cool weapons like the quad-barrel shotgun add to the glorious fun. There are moments of challenge in the game, but it usually doesn't become overly difficult.
The multiplayer component is simple and a blast to play. Mostly it's just mindless fun, but the ability to choose a character and have different speed and armor attributes, as well as a specific starting weapon, adds flavor to an already cool deathmatch.
Gore is simple fun. There is nothing revolutionary in the package, and it in no way apologizes for it. If you absolutely love FPS action, then GORE will be a good time. If you want nothing but state-of-the-art in your first person shooters, then you might want to pass it up.

Story:
In the mid-21st century, massive overpopulation and consumption caused irreversible resource shortages over most of the planet. All supplies of fossil fuels were completely decimated by 2031. The agro-mosaic virus outbreak of 2042 triggered the global food riots of 2043 by causing the extinction of all agricultural plant species. Five billion humans, almost half of the earths population, died of starvation.
With most cities falling into ruin in a perpetual night of low fuel and no power, street gangs grew into terror patrols, controlling neighborhoods and sometimes entire cities. These terror patrols grew larger and larger, falling under the control of ever more powerful dictators.
All government officials became targets for assassination, the global system of government was getting weaker by the day. As the governments began to fall and chaos began to be a way of life, all governments united and focused on the continuing search for a new energy source.
Finally, in 2079, government scientists discovered a new energy source, created from anti matter chemical reactions between the grinding forces of the planets tectonic plates, a new energy source was mined, called ORE. ORE, though not energy producing itself, was able to catalyze nearly any chemical reaction and also amplify any electrical power fed into it. Because of the density of the ORE found, when energy passed through the ORE atoms were sped up to a speed never seen before, increasing energy passed through the ORE as well as creating distortion in time and the known field.
After the ORE became common knowledge, the fighting factions used all means to gain access to the ORE's power. Using the ORE's power to bend time and fold space the MOB left earth in search of more ORE, in the process creating a war between worlds as well as on its own. Deep in the bowels of UMC research and development, secret experiments have led to the creation of the advanced massively parallel bio-computational neural network, with the ability to emulate higher-level thought processes and simulate the nonlinear processing of computations and complex algorithms. This advanced bio-computational neural network has created a perfect artificial environment, this new system avoids failures from the past and jerkiness caused by computational spasming in older non bio based artificial environments.
One of the first practical uses of this new technology was the development of an advanced combat training emulator. This emulator is a virtual reality where the UMC weeds out the mentally weak and trains the best of the best to be even better. It is so realistic several level 5 marines who first tested it died of cardiac arrest.
The "Meat Machine" termed by the first wave of Marines tested on the neural network, takes the Marine where they have never been, shows them enemies they have never faced, and trains them with existing UMC weaponry, plus weaponry that are yet to be made in the real world.
Features:
Stamina.
Stamina is your ability to move and breath, without it you slow down to the point of becoming unconscious. Moving and jumping uses up your stamina Carrying heavy weapons uses more stamina than carrying light weapons. Standing still or running over special stamina power ups will rebuild your stamina.
Now what makes this so cool? It adds a whole new feeling and strategy to the game, not only can you use your stamina up by running too long, but certain injuries subtract from your stamina as well. The stamina feature also gives a freshly respawned characters a fighting chance, because fresh characters have full stamina their speed and ability to attack slower players gives them better odds than most other games. The production team has found the stamina feature to provide endless tactics and fun.
Armor.
Gore has a unique armor system where armor models track to characters, completely protecting the covered areas, so you need to focus your firepower to destroy the armor, then aim for the unprotected areas.
Character Classes.
Not only do different characters look different, they play different. Movement speed, heath amount, resistance to damage types, stamina, punching ability, fall damage, the actual size of the character are different. The characters will all be carefully balanced to provide a fair game, yet each provides certain lethality if played correctly. You will be forced to adapt an entire new play style once you switch characters, because they are just so different. Gore will have around 8 to 10 unique player models and classes, all with unique abilities and weaknesses.
Weapons.
Gore packs a full arsenal of all the favorite weapons, plus most weapons have secondary mode. For example, the small single shot shotgun's alternate fire mode is a protective energy shield, so you can activate your shield and charge somebody. The riot gun is a fully automatic machinegun that is paired up with a gas grenade launcher, so a popular tactic is to drop a few gas grenades that expand and fill an area with a 3d gas cloud, then when they pass out, riddle their body with lead and score a frag. We don't want to give away all the cool weapon features just yet, but those are just a few examples. Gores unique particle system adds tons of flying debris, sparks, and smoke effects to make the guns feel as big and mean as they look and sound.
Interaction.
Almost anything you see in Gore can be destroyed. Weapons, health and stamina packs, ammo boxes and more can all be blown up. A popular tactic is shooting a health kit right before a wounded character picks it up, watching the kit explode which gibs the unsuspecting character. Fire extinguishers, gas tanks, and other objects can be destroyed as well, causing lots of fun. You can even climb trees, gutters, vines and more. Playing Gore feels like a war zone because of all the explosions, burning fire, smoke, gas, panting and coughing going on.
Game Play Modes.
Gore will feature the very best in Multi-play gaming modes including Death Match, CTF, Fortress style, plus exciting new single and teams modes.
