E3 Thoughts
Some people swear that the first Hidden and Dangerous was one of the best action/strategy games that came out in the past few years.  (Scott being one of them.) I wish I could say I was one of these lucky people.  Hidden and Dangerous was a nightmare for me.  First, the difficulty was actually keeping my soldiers from getting run over by a train (which I eventually overcame), and the second aspect never allowed me to play the game much further.  For no reason at all, my soldiers started running in circles and falling down and getting up for no reason.  No patches ever fixed it, and this was on several systems.  I think I was just not meant to play it through.

Although I have these horrific nightmares attached to H&D, I think the second installment looks great.  The premise is similar to before, although this time you must control a hero, and make sure that hero survives.  The waypoint/map controls are also much more intuitive than before, so it's easier to command your teammates.  It's all done with simple commands, and takes only moments.  This is extremely important on the battlefield where every second counts.

The graphics look like they've received a major overhaul.  The environments are massive, and the detail is immaculate.  The first level was a wide-open desert airfield.  Everything from the planes to the sky looked very realistic.  The second level was also cool, having you get your team around a docked ship at night.

There are 23 missions planned, and the developers promise the action won't get stale.  There will be a mix of action-oriented levels with ones that demand a stealth approach.  Let's just hope everything is balanced and isn't too hard, to early, as I've heard some people complain about the add-on pack to Hidden and Dangerous.

Hidden and Dangerous 2 looks like it's going to be awesome.  I can't wait to check it out so I can erase the nightmare I had with the first game.  For those of you who actually played through the first game, you'll be looking forward to something special.

Scott's Thoughts:
I finished the first H&D and have to say, I was excited to meet the maker at E3 this year.  I praised him on a job well done and he asked me if I finished the mission pack also.  Everyone in the room laughed because we all said it was WAY to hard and we couldn't get by the first mission.  He made a funny face and just snickered in that Croatian accent of his, as if to say, "Weak Americans".  That is when I realized this is the perfect guy to be producing H&D 2!  :)

The first thing I asked him, and I mean THE FIRST thing, was what did they do to improve the AI of your teammates? It was the one major flaw in the first one.  You actually had to tell them all to sit still and control one at a time yourself.  I was assured that the AI for your comrades had a complete overhaul and they would perform much more intelligently this time.  How many times have we heard that though?

Once he started into the game we all went dead silent as we wiped drool from our chins, because the graphics were that good!  I started to forget all the things I wanted to ask him about as he roamed vast areas and went through buildings and ships that had the most detail I have ever seen.  I was amazed at how great the game looked.  Then he got in a vehicle and drove around, and this time the vehicle was showing all kinds of great physics and superb handling.  They are using the same vehicle as in Mafia.

I really just sat their glued to the screen for the whole 15 minutes until someone banged on the door for us to get out and I snapped to attention only blurting out "WHEN CAN I PLAY THIS?!?!" He again looked and talked to me in that smug Croatian accent and just said softly, "Sometime next year." Jerred and Brian carried me out of the trailer...

Company Line
The explosion sends shivers up your spine as the deafening sound temporarily causes you to lose focus.  Did they make it out? Countless thousands of lives depend upon your team, the Special Operations Executive, destroying this airfield.  You've eliminated dozens of the enemy, outmaneuvered land mines, and covertly planted the detonators.  But did they make it out? You regain your senses and stare into the raging flames.  Dark silhouettes seemingly rise out of the ground...  they're running!  They're running at you!

Hidden & Dangerous 2 is a first and third person tactical shooter that builds upon the tremendous success of Hidden & Dangerous.  You lead a small squad of Allied soldiers deep behind enemy lines, to carry out secret missions during World War II.  The gripping story line takes you to Europe, Africa, Burma, and other locations scattered across the globe.  Each critical decision impacts you, your men, and your country.  This unique blend of action, strategy, and tactics forces you to use your brain just as much as your trigger finger.
