Jerred's PS2 Review Follows, since this is the same game. The major difference is that you can play online with up to 8 people instead of just 4 in the PS2 version and none in the Xbox version.
Tony Hawk 3 is a great game. The franchise has made more money than any of us will ever see in our lifetime, and it's personally set the bar for all other trick based "extreme" style sports games. However, it's still not for everyone.
Tony Hawk 3 has brought the series to the PS2, and it's done it with style and grace. The graphics and sound are both great, with huge expansive courses, detailed graphics, great animations, and an awesome soundtrack. The levels are very cool, there are new secrets to earn, and there are an endless variety of tricks to perform. So why the low score for a game everyone else thought was one of the best games ever?
Well, simply because I'm a bit tired of the game. Tony Hawk 3 might be the best in the series… but they really haven't changed it that much. It still has the same basic elements in it, although this time it's even easier to pull off massive combos and beat the game repeatedly to earn secrets. So, while there are plenty of fans out there who can play this game for hours on end just to see the amount of points they can build up, I'm not one of them.
Tony Hawk 3 is a fun game. Don't get me wrong. It's also extremely polished. However, it's not the groundbreaking game some have made it out to be. It's still Tony Hawk. For some, that's exactly how they want it. For others it'll be a disappointment because it's still very much the same game as the previous installments.
