X-Men: Next Dimension fares a little better on the X-Box than it does on the PS2, especially if you only have Microsoft's system.
Basically a bare-bones fighter hidden behind layers of lip service to fans of the comic series, X-Men was simply average on the PS2, unless taken as a product for the hardcore comic junkies in the population. On the X-Box, however, which doesn't have the advantage of such heavy hitters as Tekken and VF, it stacks up better and is another solid, if under whelming addition to Microsoft's growing library of fighters.
The game includes very basic modes, and not many frills. The story mode, however, is more fleshed out than in most brawlers, and is true to the license. There's lots of mutant special moves in addition to the basic punch/kick attacks. Of course, if you're not a fan of the X-Men, chances are that you'll see through the license to the shallow gameplay, and the fact remains that you can still find better fighters, even on the X-Box. DOA 3 and Kakuto Chojin immediately come to mind.
Still, with cleaner graphics and an X-clusive extra character, X-Men: Next Dimension serves as a nice bit of filler for a system that seriously needs more nutrition in the fighting department.
