If you have a higher end PC, by all means, pick up Jedi Outcast on that platform.  If you have a Gamecube and an older computer, chances are you won't see what all the fuss is about.  That's not your fault, but rather that of the clunky controls, and the aiming system, which seems to always be one step behind you; no matter what sensitivity level you happen to crank it up to.

Jedi Outcast ports a very successful and very high quality PC game to the realms of the console gamer.  With it comes a supposedly streamlined interface for easier control.  After all, a Wavebird's no keyboard.  Unfortunately, while not flawed on the most basic of basic levels, the controls are more than a bit sluggish, and can really hinder your enjoyment of the game.  The sensitivity is horribly low, even on the highest level, which is almost game breaking, considering you don't touch a lightsaber for the first third of the game or so.  Even once you do "feel the force", cycling through its many options while being shot/sliced up is a royal pain, as you don't even have any sort of "quick moves" due to the lack of buttons on the cube's controller.

The graphics in Jedi Outcast also leave a lot to be desired.  They're muddy, bland, and oftentimes the framerate takes a huge hit, despite the lack of detail.  Considering how great the original looked, this port is a disgrace in the visual department.

If you have a PC, you shouldn't even consider this version of Outcast an option.  If you don't, and you absolutely must experience the game, a rental is highly advised first before taking the fifty-dollar plunge.

In the tradition of the multi-award-winning Jedi Knight, rebel agent Kyle Katarn returns in exhilarating first-person action.  Several years have passed since Kyle avenged his father's death and saved the Valley of the Jedi from Jerec and his band of Dark Jedi.  Allowing his Force powers to languish for fear of falling to the dark side, Kyle entrusted his lightsaber to Luke Skywalker, vowing never to use it again.  But when a new and menacing threat to the galaxy emerges, Kyle knows he must reclaim his past in order to save his future.  Jedi Outcast is being developed in partnership with Activision's critically acclaimed developer Raven Software.  Players assume the role of Kyle as they employ a unique mix of weapons, Force powers and your lightsaber in both single- and multiplayer modes.

Beginning with Dark Forces and then again with Jedi Knight, LucasArts has a long-established heritage in the first-person action genre.  In Star Wars Jedi Outcast, LucasArts continues to build upon this storied legacy.  Developed in conjunction with Raven Software - makers of Soldier of Fortune and based upon a modified Quake III engine - Jedi Outcast promises gaming depth in both single and multiplayer modes.  Seek the destiny, and combat the enemies, of returning ex-Jedi Kyle Katarn.  Play through combat scenarios armed with a full arsenal of weapons, including Kyleís lightsaber and blaster...but will you dare use the Force?
