Before there was Itchy & Scratchy there was Tom & Jerry. New Kid Co brings T&J back to the GBA for another episode of hilarious hijinks or something like that.
Any way, in the Infurnal Escape (*furnal, get it)…Tom has to get away from Satan! Tom was flattened by a piano and goes to that awful place now that his 9 lives are up. As he's about to meet Sat..err, Spike and be part of his stew, an angel comes to his rescue if he can do some missions for her…about 15 of them to be exact.
As is custom in 16 bit land, the premise is explained via a slide show with text – no cool movies here. You'll start off in the Dog Army Camp and have to take care of business platformer style.
Graphics are very good --- very detailed and very clear – I wouldn't go so far as to say cell shading, but they are very good indeed. Control is easy to pick up and play – every button save for select is used for some sort of task.
Gameplay is satisfactory – most missions involve having to get a certain number of somethings (golden bones, alley cats, etc). The items that you use in the game are straight out of a cartoon-TNT barrels, propane tanks and so forth. Getting through the game is relatively easy, but fun nonetheless.
Music is halfway decent – we'll call it typical for a GBA platformer.
While there's nothing to strongly recommend this game to non-fans, anyone that enjoys Tom & Jerry's antics on television back in their youth will probably have a lot of fun reliving old memories with this game – I would personally say the game is geared more to kids, but adults will have fun with it too.
