The World War II shooter subgenre has been saturated beyond belief in recent years, with numerous copycat games flooding the market based upon the trials and triumphs of the greatest generation. Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 bucks that trend with gameplay that is less of a "shooter on rails" and more tuned to recreating the tense, thought-out strategies that won the war for the Allies.
Though precise shooting is always a help in any first-person shooter, victory in Brothers in Arms requires more than an itchy trigger finger. Each of the game's 20 missions requires heavy reliance on your four-man squad. Commands are given through a simple point-and-go interface, through which you can order your soldiers to rush an enemy head on, flank an embedded group of soldiers, or provide covering fire for you to advance to a more strategic position.
On the production side, Brothers in Arms shines with heartfelt cinematics that are worthy equals to the finest Hollywood war films. Thanks to wonderful direction, technical brilliance and a rousing musical score, Brothers in Arms looks and sounds every bit as good as it plays.
World War II shooters have been done to death, but Brothers in Arms' unique approach brings more depth to the genre than similar games on the market. A must-have for any fan of tactical shooters.
