The problem with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus is that it's mind numbingly boring.

This and the former TMNT game are both spiritual successors of sorts to the 8 and 16 bit titles of yesteryear.  Too bad, then, that these updates capture precisely zero of the fun the old games provided.

Gone are the days of fun, fast paced button mashing.  The action in Battle Nexus is slow and plodding, with nothing that could be considered a combo to be found anywhere in sight.  And although things get better when you add more players, multiplayer support can't save a game that isn't any fun to play in the first place.

The cel-shaded graphics are passable, but not what you'd call impressive.  Audio is terrible, with the same butt rock and feel-good one-liners that turned the TMNT from cool to crap almost overnight.

Battle Nexus does try to make an improvement over the original game by adding a power up system and upgradable stats.  Sadly, these do not change the fact that the game is just very, very boring.  These half shell chumps aren't the heroes you remember.
