Hidden Menu & Increase Framerate

At any point in time when you are in-game, hold down M and press Escape. This will take you to a hidden menu where you can do all sorts of things from changing the refresh rate to loading custom saved games.

You can also enable 'Motion Smoothing' which makes the game significantly smoother. You may need to go to 'Return to Title' on the same enu for this to work correctly...
